TAEKWONDO IN PAKISTAN

Taekwondo was introduced in Pakistan by Korean Consulate during 1962 in Karachi with the support of few Pakistanis who had the know-how of the game. During 1970, Mr A. Q. Raja got involved in Taekwondo Activities and tried his best to spread this game all over Pakistan with the help of Professor Anwar Choudhry, a legend of Boxing. Struggles of these two dedicated gentlemen bore fruit in 1974 when Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) got affiliated with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA). In 1977 an other landmark was reached in the shape of affiliation of PTF with World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and Asian Taekwondo Union. The first participation of Pakistan Taekwondo Team in international level competitions was to participate at Nepal in 1999 and the team got 1 x Silver and 3 x Bronze Medals.
